Peru Experience Ltd is a small family business with intimate knowledge of Peru. Amalia Chico de Read is Peruvian, while her husband Michael Read is British.
It is developed from a travel agency we were operating in Peru in the 1990s. At the same time, Michael was involved in the production of Guia Peru Norte, a travel guide about North Peru so, together with Amalia, was able to learn much about the nascent Peruvian tourism.
Now living in the United Kingdom, we travel frequently to Peru and, during our visits, have researched the tours on offer. We are starting off with accompanied and unaccompanied tours to the Peruvian Amazon, in conjunction with our associate company, Amazon Curaca Camp, and can offer bolt-on tours to other parts of Peru.
Our mission is to share with you our passion for Peru, a fascinating country of very many facets: three distinct regions and many micro climates. Experience its archaeology, its flora and fauna, its cuisine, its culture, but above all enjoy the wonderful hospitality of the Peruvian people.
You can either come with us on our various accompanied tours or choose a tailor-made holiday. Pick our brains and go where you like, always knowing that we are at the end of the telephone or e-mail for advice.
We are aiming to take a group of up to 30 people to the Amazon in October, to stay at the new Amazon Curaca Camp at either or both of its lodges.
In September 2007, we are staging a special tour for the Festival de la Primavera, taking place in Trujillo, which is 600km north of Lima on the coast. We shall stay at the coastal resort of Huanchaco for five nights in order to enjoy the festival: street parades, dancing, the famous dancing horses etc. We also visit the largest mud city in the world - Chan Chan - and the Temples of the Sun and the Moon. From there we move on to Chiclayo to see more fascinating archaeological complexes, the principle ones being El Brujo and El Senor de Sipan. We continue up the coast to Punta Sal. A beautiful tropical beach, to spend three nights staying in a hotel on the beach. Finally, we go into the mountain to visit the ancient Inca city of Cajamarca. More details on this tour later.
We hope you will soon feel the same about Peru as we do.
