TRUJILLO
Because of its wealth of physical and cultural attractions Trujillo is now the centre of tourism in the north of Peru. Its famous festivals, much of them religious in nature, have served repeatedly to demonstrate the beauty and richness of its culture and folklore.
Five miles south of Trujillo stand the ceremonial centres or huacas known as the Temples of the Sun and the Moon of the Moche civilisation. It is believed that they were, respectively, an administrative centre and a centre of worship. The Temple of the Sun is a graded pyramid Archaeological attractions are found in the adjacent Moche Valley, where are located many pre-Inca sites, the most important of which is Chan Chan, city of mud, the religious and administrative centre of the great Chimú empire.

Spring Festival
The International Spring Festival has become one of the most important celebrations in the north of Peru. Many diverse social and cultural activities take place during the two weeks, such as art and handicrafts exhibitions, concerts of classical and folk music, sporting events and cooking competitions. The Grand Finale of the Festival is a wonderful parade of highly decorated floats, together with dancers, who perform in the main streets of the city.
